david.mcphail@gilesmcphail.com

I am a Founder and Chief Investment Strategist at GilesMcPhail Wealth Management, where my primary responsibilities are to oversee the Firm's core investment strategies and provide strategic asset allocation advice to the firm's clients and advisors. I have worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years, previously working as a Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo Advisors and as an attorney at Balch and Bingham. My educational background includes a Juris Doctorate from the University of Mississippi, a Masters of Business Administration from Millsaps College, and a Bachelor of Science from Mississippi State University.

We love celebrating the successes of our clients, whether it be career achievements or meeting a saving and investing goal we have helped them pursue. The most rewarding part of our job is giving our clients confidence that they can retire. We love watching them execute a financial plan we've created with them and celebrating with them when that plan comes to fruition. This client-centered approach drives everything we do at the firm.

I advise my clients on an array of issues, including investment management, financial planning, business continuity planning, and generational wealth transfer. Earlier in my career, I counseled Fortune 500 companies on large complex financial transactions as well as counseled them on how to navigate complex regulatory requirements. This diverse experience in financial services provides me with a distinct perspective that I feel benefits our clients in addressing their most complex financial challenges.

I live in Oxford, Mississippi, with my wife, Jenny, and our three children, Logan, Kate, and Parker. My hobbies include hunting, coaching my son's sports teams, Chicago Cubs baseball, traveling, and running. I'm also involved with More Than A Meal, an organization that's important to my family and me. Balancing my professional responsibilities with family time and personal interests keeps me grounded and energized to serve our clients with the dedication and experience they deserve.

Cody Giles

Founder and Director of Financial Planning

I am a Founder and Financial Advisor at GilesMcPhail Wealth Management, where my primary responsibilities include financial planning, investment strategy, and asset allocation. I have worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years, previously working at Wells Fargo Advisors before starting GilesMcPhail. Prior to beginning my career in financial services, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2001 from the University of Mississippi.

What motivates me in this profession is working with people and helping them build for the future. When it comes to my job, I most enjoy the personal relationships with clients and hearing their life's journey. Each client brings unique experiences and goals, and I find great fulfillment in being part of their financial story and helping them navigate toward their dreams and aspirations.

I believe that the greatest value I can provide for my clients is being someone who listens and can help them problem-solve. Financial planning isn't just about numbers and investments—it's about understanding each person's individual circumstances, concerns, and objectives, then working together to create strategies that fit their specific needs. This personalized approach has been the foundation of my practice throughout my career.

I currently live in Oxford, Mississippi, with my wife and our two sons. All that I do each day is for them and to make sure I can be a good example and to make sure they are taken care of. Outside of the office, I recently joined the board of CASA, an organization that helps foster kids. In my free time, my family and God are my passions. I love the discipline of exercise and how it pushes me, and I want to challenge myself each day spiritually, mentally, and physically.

I am a Wealth Advisor at GilesMcPhail Wealth Management, where my primary responsibilities include assisting clients with any financial-related issues they may have. I specialize in financial advising, financial planning, and problem solving, drawing on over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining GilesMcPhail, I worked at AIG Retirement Services, and before beginning my career, I graduated from the University of Mississippi.

What motivates me most in this profession is seeing the moment when a client recognizes the progress they’re making toward their financial goals. I find great satisfaction when a client understands what we are doing together and why we are doing it, and when they trust in me and know that I truly care about them and their family. Of all my responsibilities, I really enjoy financial planning the most. I love putting together the pieces of a client's financial life and showing them how it all works together, creating a roadmap of where we need to go together to work toward reaching retirement or whatever goal they may have.

I believe that the most important thing I provide for my clients is financial confidence. My clients know we're doing what we're doing for specific reasons, and they trust in me to help make those important decisions. This trust and understanding forms the foundation of every successful client relationship I build.

A native of Kosciusko, Mississippi, I currently live in Oxford, where I am an active member of The Rotary Club of Oxford and Christ Presbyterian Church. In my free time, I love spending time outdoors and enjoy almost every aspect of being outside, including hiking, hunting, fishing, snow and water skiing, and just watching nature do what it does. As an Ole Miss alum, I enjoy watching Ole Miss Sports, particularly because it allows me to reconnect with old friends and acquaintances while meeting new people. Football season at Ole Miss is a very social time with tailgating in The Grove, which is considered one of the top places to tailgate in college sports.

Ava Tracey

Client Support Specialist

(662) 234-6111

ava.tracey@gilesmcphail.com

I am a Client Support Specialist at GilesMcPhail Wealth Management, where I support our clients with professionalism, care, and a genuine commitment to their financial well-being. I entered the financial services industry because I love helping people navigate decisions that truly impact their lives. In college, I didn't understand loans or financial planning, and it left me feeling unprepared. Once I began learning about finance, I realized how valuable good guidance really is. That experience sparked my interest in this field and inspired me to help others, particularly women my age, avoid that same uncertainty.

What motivates me most is the opportunity to grow my knowledge every day while creating meaningful connections with clients. I genuinely enjoy the client interaction aspect of my role: being able to help people, answer questions, and serve as a supportive point of contact during important moments in their financial lives. The most interesting part is getting to know who clients are beyond the paperwork, learning about their backgrounds and what matters most to them. I also enjoy the marketing side of my role and collaborating with everyone in the office. The creativity, energy, and teamwork keep every day interesting.

I am originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts, and currently live in Oxford, Mississippi. Coming from the North, I had no idea how incredible SEC football games could be. My mom, Karen, is everything to me and has shown me to always persevere and give it my all. In my free time, I love all things art, including painting, needlepointing, and making jewelry. I have two dogs, Fenway and Theo, named after the Boston Red Sox.
